This article is going to be explain a few things that happen and some disappointed moments dealing with the Godox wireless system for Sony users and while using and focusing on the Godox TT600S flashes in my experience dealing with using the Godox TT600S Think-lite budget flashes for over six months. First let me start off by saying that if you are interested in looking
into an affordable flash unit,
please don't be discouraged
on what I'm about to say here
and I am not making facts here that Godox isn't worth trying as a
photography product.
So my journey starts off with myself looking for new sets of
wireless flashes for my travels and for the Sony line up of mirrorless cameras.
I'd needed something strong build and that can last long.

June 28, 2016 was the day that I decided to try a brand called Godox and my idea was to find out
if these two units which are TT600S in the wireless trigger
we're good enough for even the professional photographer.
My love for the build quality when I open the box was truly shocking.

I do have to confess that the build quality is quite amazing
and did feel like a very good professional Flash unit. In mine early review in July 15th 2016,
I'd praise Godox for providing us with many selections of an affordable
and excellent quality wireless situations for Sony.
Don't give me wrong it's not going to replace any professional strobes
but it will fill in the void when doing portrait photography or any flash photography.
I was truly in love how they performed with the battery selection that I chose to use with the unit.
The X1T-S trigger was pretty easy to use and set up.
Now, I need to focus on some excellent batteries that won't break the bank here.
Oh yes, I'd happen to purchase two 4 batteries sets with charger dock for a good price.
The eneloop pro rechargeable batteries were a very good selection choice on my behalf.
Recycled times when it recycled the power was about 1.8 seconds on 1/4 power and one 1/1 power about 2.0 seconds but in my professionalism opinion it was outstanding.
Notice that when I had the power ratio at 1/16 power the battery will instantly recycle time.
This was taken notice at an Event Photography location in NYC with BrooklynHookParty.
Performance is excellent when it come to power and timing.

#1: Intensity
The first thing that you want to think about is flash intensity. Now that’s what these fractions mean, so 1/1, 1 over 2, 1 over 4, these are just simple fractions to give you an idea of how much flash power is coming out. So just remember from fourth grade when you did fractions. 1/1 = 1. So that’s going to be 100% of the flash power coming out. Super bright! I rarely use 1/1. And then you can do 1/2, 1/4, 1/8th power, and then you can go in between 1/8th and 1/4th
if you want just a little bit more light
or a little bit less light -
you don’t have to do just the straight up fractions,
you can go 1/8th power plus .5
or 1/8th power plus .7.
#2: Zoom
The second thing that you need to think about is the zoom. Now the zoom right now, it’s at 105mm.
You can put it on 24mm, 28mm, etc.
Some people just match it up with whatever lens they’re using,
but honestly all this does is it just moves the flash element
(can you see that moving in there?) up and down.
And really all that does is it either concentrates the flash or it lets the flash shoot a little bit wider.
So really the only reason why you’d need to change that is let’s say you want your flash to shoot farther
-- it’s better if you concentrate it and then it’ll throw farther vs if you just let it open up wide and
then it won’t get as far because it’s going to be spread out. So if you want it to go farther,
you’re going to want to put it up to 105mm or 80mm. But that’s really all it does!

#3: Angle
The third thing you need to think about is the angle.
You can move this thing all over the place when it’s connected to your camera,
this top part goes everywhere. Wherever you want it to go.
You can shoot yourself in the face with the flash, haha.
And a lot of photographers start here, right?
You see the flash shooting directly at people.
That is...pretty much the worst thing that you can do,
and that’s why beginner flash photographers hate the images that they shoot with flash because
they’re basically just getting that deer-in-headlights look because they don’t know what else to do with it.
They’re assuming “well I need to get the light over there so I guess I’ll just point it towards the person and I’ll get a good shot” but that’s not how it works.

The light you fall in love with when you see other people’s
images are most likely when the light is coming in from the side of the shot.
Or from the back of the shot. Or a slight angle off the front.
So! I’m going to ask you soon in some other tutorials to get your flash off the camera but for a beginner,
even if your flash is on the camera, you can spin it around and have it bouncing off certain things in order to get light to hit your subject at a different angle
(more in video #2) even if it’s attached to your camera.

Finally...
So! The First rule is, never ever point your flash at someone directly
-- you’re just not going to like it. Or maybe if you do, then that’s just your thing
but I guarantee 99% of your shots will not turn out the way you want them to turn out if you do that.
The X1T-S trigger are simple and light weight. It's recommend that if this is your first TTL/HSS flash,
I would take the time to read the manual carefully.
This is a 2.4GHZ wireless trigger and has more than more than 32 channel to set.
The X1T-S trigger display can be seen well in very bright sunlight and digital readout are clear to run through the menu settings on the trigger.
The triggers also are LCD lit and are very good at night but not very visible in sunlight.
With the Sony A7R, I had to hold down the CH/OK button for 5 seconds
until the FN menu show to program the trigger
to response to the slow shutter response to 0.42 mill-seconds when using shutter speeds 1/250 and higher.
Yes, it does work in HHS mode up until 1/4000 and some cases 1/5000 of a second if you program the trigger to adjust with the shutter speed on the Sony A7R.
For the Sony A77mk2  crop sensor body,
there were no need to re programming the trigger and work excellent if I may say so.
You can make a number of adjustments to the trigger base on your configuration
and what does work best for you.
The image down below are images in direct sunlight. You can see the display is still visible
but I notice a problem with TTL when using TTL Mode.. when looking onto my HISTOGRAM,
there was some variations when using tTL mode. to be fare in honest,
I would say about eight to seventeen perfect of my images need to be thrown out.
Not to bad nor not to good either because of the over exposure and some will have borderlines.
I have been trying to contact someone from Godox about a replacement
but for the last 7 months and there hasn't been a reply.

The Fn Menu When Holding Down CH/OK For 5 Seconds
The build quality of the trigger is pretty good
but not anything pro quality that is if you are looking for that sort of quality.
It's made out of good material plastic construction and pretty light for a trigger but it's shape and size is odd but you will pay no attention after a few days using it.
I'd give credit to the design due to the fact that it does
blend in with your camera black colors and looks pretty cool.
So you may love it, or hate it but that is up to you. (Read the manual for settings and configuration)

These Batteries were added on July 3rd and never was taken out. Battery life is excellent
But soon after I've made and upload the review for Sony users which you can view on YouTube above on my channel is where everything start to concern me.
The shoe mount on the bottom of the flash on both units broke after the 42nd day of using them.
So I contacted Amazon customer support, after the 30 day warranty and
I'd purchased the bundle set from Amazon and their response was that I need to email the marketing team at Godox and they will also help with contacting someone.
So I continue send out emails but there was no reply after the end of August
and seems this wasn't working out as planned.
Two weeks pass and the email I'd send wasn't return, then I waited another week and still no reply.
Here is where the mistakes happen here,  my mistake was mount the units on a multiple metal brackets.
Now what I mean by this don't use aluminum or metal shoe mount brackets because it will stress and break the cheap plastic shoe mount of the bottom of the flash units.
(You can see images down below)
Picture
Don't Use This Single Bracket

Three Way Death Lock
Now I do wonder if I was ever going to get a hold of any representative on Godox Facebook or Instagram?.
Instagram was a failure because no one ever replies back.
Then I try Facebook and no one replied back until October 14th 2016.
Now you are probably wondering why did it take so long and my honest opinion is,
I don't have a clue either but the response I got back wasn't very professional or help either.
It's was said to contact the marketing team at their email
but I've already tried the marketing email again and still no reply,
so I continue to use the two units and try a MOD in mind by just purchasing
an Godox S-Bowen Bracket but there is a problem with that.
Now I can't keep taking the S-Bowen Bracket everywhere there's a photoshoot but for me I don't mind at all.
I will like the comforts of having the ability to mount a flash on my camera once again when I need to do so for Event Photography or Wedding Photography.
But Godox customer support is by far the worst I've ever seen.
My point of this topic here is that if Neewer was able to get in contact with me after 1-3 business day
about a softbox issue I had and now got a replacement.
Yes, I am sticking it to Godox for not supplying the photography community with great customer support with such excellent products to market and for us,
the photographer to do the best with our creatively thoughts
when creating and defining what it means to be a photographer.

TT600S Broken Shoe Mounts
November 22, 2016 there is still not a single reply from the marketing team at Godox,
so I'm wondering if there's any customer support for Godox at all?

So I continue to used the units in the best manner possible.
The flashes are still working and I had to make some adjustments which I had to buy a

S-Bowen bracket to mount the flash in order to use it as I said before.
Godox use low-density polyethylene to make the shoe-mount to
save cost instead not using
 high-density polyethylene.
That is what you get from a Chinese manufacturer
and Godox is aware of the issues and do not want to admit.
The flashes work beautifully and took some wonderful pictures
using even at full power and with some modifications
with some gels and some diffusers it was a wonderful unit to use.
I used to grid I use a soft box I even rented a beauty dish
from a friend for a week and the work I'd accomplish
worked beautifully with that S-Bowen bracket.
There is no way to use these units with a tradition
new horse shoe mount adapter that did come with the flashes.
There is no way to use these all my camera due to the connections being bent out of shape.
The only way I can use these units was to using wirelessly and with other means necessary.

Using Rogue Grid 2 with TT600S, Blue Gel
Now it's December 2016 and still no work from Godox Marketing team
and I'm at a point where there might not be any customer support
for customers that have purchase any Godox products.
I'm still using the units when I'm doing party events or portrait photography w/ using a softbox
but the functionality on these units are so easy to dial in that anyone can use the TT600S with ease.
The display screen on the back of the unit it's bright and detail.
Even in direct sunlight, you are able to see the display.
Now that's really good, It is best to understand by reading the manual that comes with your units.
The TTL feature it's simple easy and sync less than two seconds.
The function those are very precise when changing and power ratio.
Now you might have a question and that will be doesn't have high-speed sync? Yes, but there is a trick that needs to be done in order to have it in high speed sync.
There's a high-speed sync receiver USB that you may have to buy but in manual

and have the camera on HSS was tricky to get to work for some reason. So Yes, It does have HSS

NOW WHEN IT COMES TO UPDATING THE FIRMWARE THROUGH THE SOFTWARE.
JUNE 2016, IT WAS A PAIN WHEN I FIRST GOT THE UNITS.
YOU HAVE TO DISABLE SOME WINDOWS FEATURES
AND RESTART THE COMPUTER INTO SAFE MODE TO INSTALL THE FIRMWARE.
NOW GODOX IN LATE OCTOBER 2016 RELEASE A MORE FRIENDLY
USER SOFTWARE APPLICATION TO UPDATE THE FIRMWARE.
BUT IT'S NOW COMING TO THE NEW YEAR AND STILL NO REPLY FROM GODOX MARKETING TEAM.
I'VE ASKED AMAZON TO PLEASE DO A FAVOR TO GET IN TOUCH WITH THE COMPANY
AND THEY ALSO HAD NO LUCK IN THE MATTER.
BUT GUESS WHAT HAPPEN, AMAZON TOOK NOTICE THAT I'VE BEEN DEALING WITH THIS PROBLEM FOR A LONG TIME AND REFUND ME ALL MY MONEY BACK
AND AT THE END I'D WON THE FIGHT THANKS TO AMAZON.
SO, AT THIS TIME I'VE GIVEN UP TRYING TO CONTACT GODOX FOR FUTURE COMPLAINTS.
THEIR CUSTOMER SUPPORT IS AN NEGATIVE 10 BY RATING.
NOW KEEP THIS IN MIND THAT I HAVE WORK WITH THE SPEEDLIGHTS IN HARSH 12 NOON CONDITIONS
WITH A MODEL NOW AT GN 60 IS ABOUT PRO STANDARD
FOR A SPEEDLIGHT WITH HSS/TTL IN CERTAIN CONDITIONS.
YES, PORTABLE AND LIGHT BUT THE CON OF THIS IS THE RECYCLE TIME DECREASE AND ONLY LIMITED TO ABOUT 250-300 SHOTS.
BUT POWER ALSO DECREASE AND WILL NOT LAST A FULL DAY LIKE A STROBE WILL.

from the image below you, model name is Miki Ishikura and a make-up artist from Osaka, Japan.
This image was taken at Dumbo, Brooklyn in direct sunlight
using S-bracket bowen mount and 47in / 120CM soft box

and another Godox 60 x60  softbox as a hair light on the left.
So yes, you can use speedlights for daylight Portrait shoots.

So is the TT600S worth buying? It's up to you to decide
if you want to purchase and be stuck with no customer support from Godox.
But as a photographer, the TT600S do you work great but it's just that the fact of the defective plastic shoe mount on mine TT600s flashes might not be an issue for you.
For me I am still going to use them until they die out plus now since I'm not sure if
Godox were trying to save on cost or not
but if you are going to purchase any of the Godox flashes,
it's in your best interest to purchase to think about a S-Bowen bracket
and don't try to tighten the flash to your camera, mounts and adapters so tight.
It's will cause stress in the plastic and over time will fall apart without you knowing.
For the price of $184.99 for two flashes (TT600S) and a trigger,
you can't go wrong with the price and the performance on what it can do.
But be fair warned that the show mount has issues and you might want to mount this on a S-bracket
but if you don't and need to do event or party photography jobs,
the plastic will break on the shoe mount over time. Many have reported this problem
and had no luck getting in touch with Godox support email at Marketing@godox.com

Godox offers TT685S and V860II-S which are better and cost more than the TT600S Thinklite flash
and the V860S which are better when it come to the quality at the shoe mount.

Hope this has help anyone with information to know
when making a smart choice when purchase the right gear for your photography.

Since August 19th 2016, I was looking for better options to still use the flashes and that would mean that
I would have to purchase a S-brackets for both speedlites.
Now I will email Godox soon as I have some information or emails where I can get a response fast.

September 21st 2016 and I have email Godox after talking to Amazon supervisor about this product
and was told that I am not the only one reporting issue
with the shoe mount on the speedlite units from Godox.

October 3rd 2016 and still no reply from Godox and I will continue to wait.

Update: November 15th 2016 and I'm sitting here waiting on Godox to reply back
and still nothing has changed from the first two emails I send in September.

Update: December 27th and I've send another email back to
Godox and there has not been a single reply from them.

Very bad customer support. I'm going to say this now but this is the worst

It's now January 13th 2017 and I'm writing this article on my
iPhone and there has been no reply back from Godox still.

Update: February 22nd and no reply back from Godox and I don't think I will get one since
have start to inform them about your product back in September 2016

Update: March 14th and still no reply from Godox , this is poor customer service

Update: June 7th 2017 and still no reply from Godox
and still waiting for them to explain to me what happen with customer support
and why does it take almost a year to get back to someone but that reply hasn't happened yet.
I've send another email out to them and they just seem to not care about the customer
but I'm a also a Youtuber and can connect with the world better than they can
and inform others about the experience which I will do in a LIVE upload today on Youtube.

Update: June 16th 2017 and Godox finally responds to the email but not as I had hope.
The person that was replying back to back kept asking me on the store that sold it to me.
I kept replying back Amazon and that individual kept asking the same questions over
and over again and didn't know what Amazon was.

Haha, But this individual that was replying back told me to have
Amazon replace the two speedlites after 10 months of waiting?

Have to be kidding me right? Godox seems to know want to uphold their
own manufacturer warranty with their own products.

Almost a year has gone by and now after a total of 20 emails were exchanged back and forth,
they stop responding and it's not June 18th 2017.

I don't think the person was reading this article or watching my videos to understand.
June 17th 2017 is when I continue to talk to Godox offices in China about the problem
and that is when they asked for the proof of purchase.

June 18th 2017 is when I contacted Amazon about reopening an old account that was closed to get the documentation to get the replacement speedlites.
To both Amazon and I amazed, we uncovered that Godox was the store under Amazon fullfillment stores that sold me the speedlites in the first place.
We both email Godox at the email listed
Godox@godox.com and marketing@godox.com about our findings.

June 20th 2017 is when Godox (in China) contacted their marketing team
and allies here in the states about replacing my speedlites
and was told that they have an order ready for me to be shipped out
on the next day to prove them with an address.

June 22th 2017 is when the replacements were shipped to
an Amazon locker by UPS where the attempt fail because the lockers where full and
I had to call the UPS customer service to find out why it fail and turns out that the lockers were full and
made some plans to meet the driver to pick it up manually at his location.

June 22nd 2017, Is when I received the speedlites by UPS
and did an Unboxing video about the replacements and the experience.
So in total of waiting time and delayed after delay was 11 months and 2 weeks
and 3 days and 6 hours and 23 minutes and 14 seconds.
s
But they want me to delete The Godox Customer Support Nightmare video because it shows them not applying and want to cover up their unprofessionalism behavior and after I upload this very video two days before they
decided that they will send out the
TT600S replacements.
So what does that tell you about Godox?

On July 26th 2017, Godox Rep in the states send me an email to request if I can now delete my my content off my YouTube channel which also means to remove any written content about the customer service and warranty feedback that my written review has received  and that I've updating for 11 months and 2 weeks. After a year of trying to get replacements of the speedlites that shouldn't have taken a year to replace, they gone ahead and ask for something that I refuse to do. As a experienced photographer, I have a right to share my experiences with the community and other audiences about this experience so everyone is aware about the manufacture warranty which Godox doesn't want to uphold. Here is the video that was upload this morning about the email
and I was pretty upset about the request.
Here is the review on the speedlites.

Keep in mind that EMGreat was either asked to ask me to remove the video by Godox themselves but no one will know the truth, yet. But to ask an experience photographer and creator to remove content of their accounts, websites, or social media platforms is by far a unprofessional move and aka DICK move in my opinion. But I don't see why EMGreat the Amazon store got involved in the
first place? Godox contacted
EMGreat to send me the replacements,
